Meet Me At The Barre
"Physique 57 is an innovative workout program that combines isometric exercises and orthopedic stretches to systematically lengthen and sculpt your muscles and create a beautiful, lean body. Our process is similar to interval training, but we’ve taken that concept to the next level to make it even more effective." - from Physique 57 website

Fashion Favorite: Fit Is In
Here on Dear Christian, I love you, I spend a lot of time focusing on what to put on your feet or on your body. I thought this would be the PERFECT time to focus on the body!!
For years I complained that I could never find clothes to fit me because of blah blah blah. The truth is, I found tons of clothes, I just wasn't happy with the way they looked on me, because I wasn't happy with me. No, this is not a post about how I lost a bunch of weight and now feel good about the way I look, this is a post about how I found a healthy routine that is helping me get to where I want to go.
Skinny doesn't mean healthy. I think that is a point that can not be stressed enough! Do yourself a favor and eat right, exercise and enjoy a healthy lifestyle! The benefit? IT CAN MAKE YOU SKINNY!
Everybody is different, so what works for me may not work for you. But the moral of the story is, excuses get you nowhere. The moment you decide to stop making excuses for yourself and do something about what makes you unhappy, is the moment you'll find yourself on the path to success.
Be healthy. Be happy,
Penny Lane

New Music Tuesday!
Every Tuesday is an exciting new day for music! Here are a few selections worth checking out, with links to articles, reviews, videos and anything else I could find! As well as newsworthy items for everything else...
New Releases:
Madonna - MDNA
Spotify: Madonna – MDNA
Miami Herald Review: Madonna Inspires Dance Euphoria
The two most interesting things about Madonna's new album are the covers. Love the bright colors, her red dress, her face obscured by what looks like glass, her bright red lips and cat eyes. Very intriguing. Wish I could say the same for the music. I tapped my toes. I wiggled in my seat a little. But I can honestly say there wasn't anything about this album I haven't already heard from her. Honestly, I could never hear from her again and live a long happy life...
The Mars Volta - Noctourniquet
Spotify: The Mars Volta – Noctourniquet
NME Review: Review: The Mars Volta
This band seems to evoke a very emotional response. You either love them. Or you hate them. There are very few people that live in between. I can honestly say, this album has put me in between. I LOVED Deloused In The Comatoruim. LOVED! But then...they kind of lost me a little and I was sort of okay with that. Now, three years since their last release and I am not sure if I can find my way back. They've always been weird. It's part of their charm. But this album just feels weird. I can't quite put my finger on why, after listening to this album, I feel as though I could never listen to them again, but I think it's time to put them on a shelf and let them collect dust for awhile...
Amy Dalley - Coming Out Of The Pain
Spotify: Amy Dalley – Coming Out Of The Pain
Performance Schedule: AmyDalley.com/tour
I'm doing something so very unlike me. I'm listening to country music. I wanted to spice up the variety in my reviews so I thought I'd go for country. Though I don't think I would choose to listen to her on the regular, Amy Dalley has a beautiful voice. And an amazing sense of humor. The first track off Coming Out Of The Pain, "Peace Sign," had me rewinding and giggling and writing lyrics down so I wouldn't forget them... It's your typical I-just-got-dumped song with a flare for the humorous! Lines like, "you put the f-u in fun," or "I'm just sayin' goodbye, one finger shy of the peace sign," had me giving her air high fives for stickin' it to him. On a whole, I don't think this album is a clear departure from what country already has to offer, but it's entertaining and a pleasure to sit through...but shhhhhh, don't tell anyone I said that ;)

1) SPIN compiled a list of the 30 Most Hated Bands, 30 just isn't enough in my opinion, but they nailed it: 30 Biggest Punching Bags In Pop History
2) The Mad Med Season 5 premier was last night, but I can't watch it yet! I'm still on Season 2 (I know, I know, behind the times), but this track is ALL over the interwebs: Mad Men Version of Zou Bisou Bisou in iTunes Store
3) It's cool and windy here in NYC today, but this song transports me to sunny California *sigh*
"Why would you live anywhere else?" That's a good question, Best Coast. That, is a good fucking question: Download Best Coast's New Track "The Only Place"

NEW RELEASES:
The Shins - Port of Morrow
Spotify: The Shins – Port Of Morrow
LA Times Review: Album Review: The Shins - Port of Morrow
I'll be honest, I don't like The Shins. And there is a bit of a back story behind the reason. No, I didn't get my heart broken or suffer a crushing life altering experience while listening to a Shins track. Nothing of the sort. I just don't like em. But, I've pretended to like em since that damn movie Garden State came out in 2004. I can honestly say I'm not sure that I ever heard them before that movie, but that movie did it for me. I became a hater of a band I pretended to like because EVERYONE seemed to like them and thought I should too. Typically I wouldn't care, but at this time in my life I was young and impressionable and wanted people to think my opinion about music was valid. Now. I don't mind shouting it from the rooftops that I do not like The Shins. So having gotten that off my chest, I can say this album didn't convert me to a believer, but it didn't make me hate them more, so I suppose that's a step in the right direction. The album sounds like The Shins and for their fans that is probably a good thing. For me, I'd prefer James Mercer to ditch The Shins all together and concentrate on Broken Bells full time. Again, I didn't hate the album, but I gave it a listen once completely through and that was enough for me.

Drowned in Sound Review: Review
I had never heard of Choir of Young Believers until browsing one of my favorite music blogs, Music Snobbery, few months back. The author posted an article talking about the upcoming album with a YouTube video of just the track with the album cover and I almost fell off my chair. The lead singer has a voice a la Ben Bridwell (Band of Horses) but the music is much different. I can't describe it but to say there is something about it that feels familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Rolling Stone Review: Album Review: The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond
I haven't had the chance to read the books yet (book 1 now in my possession to start this evening!!), but this series has turned into a PHENOMENON! Billboards all over the city, people blowing up Facebook, Twitter, even Pinterest! Definitely peeks my curiosity. And the soundtrack only adds to that curiosity. A Who's Who among indie circles I am completely intrigued. And. I actually like the Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift tracks! World gone mad... ;)
