You can keep the dresses, I'll take the shoes...

Fiona Custom Swarovski Crystal Degrade Pumps; the AMAZING shoes Hathaway wore during her third look (Lanvin tuxedo) at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards.

And the Oscar goes to...

Last night was the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Happily sitting on my couch in my jammies with slippers on and no make-up I watched and Tweeted the events as they unfolded over three hours of movie talk! But let's to get to the important stuff...

The FASHION!

Penny Lane's Best Dressed in order...

1. Gwyneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein - My Goddess, she looked like a statue herself! Classic, simple and her body is seriously to die for...disappointed I couldn't see her shoes, I'm sure they were amazing! Was it me or did the dress look like liquid metal?! In the words of my girl Rachel Zoe, bananas.

2. Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Haute Couture - An interesting dress that wouldn't have worked on anyone but her. I thought it was not only visually interesting but the color was amazing against her skin as well as her awesome short hair and the cut made her figure look fantastic.

3. Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein - Vavava Voooooom! Simple, elegant and a perfect color for her. Vibrant red for a vibrant young woman. I think it's awesome to be age appropriate and sexy at the same time...

4. Michelle Williams in Chanel Haute Couture - There is something very quiet and demure about Michelle Williams. Almost a little sad? But in this dress she looked elegant, happy and at peace.

5. Jennifer Hudson in Versace - Weightwatchers need look no further for their number 1 salesperson. Jennifer Hudson looks absolutely amazing. The dress was eye catching in all the right places! And the color, just amazing.

Perhaps one I failed to swoon over that some of my fashionista lady friends did was Mila Kunis. I'm not sure why I didn't react well to the dress but my ladies definitely did with most including her in their Top Five.

Now to deal with the dreaded bad...

1. Melissa Leo - Her dress looked awkward and uncomfortable. Almost like a doily you make into a Valentine in 4th grade. I do give her props for saying fuck on national television (even though they bleeped it!).

2. Nicole Kidman - My fellow redhead. I did not care for the bands of additional fabric on either side of which when draped over her hips looked like she was hiding actual saddle bags. Otherwise, she looked amazing. Loved the red shoes with the white dress. Nice pop of color.

All in all I think it was a fantastic evening for fashion...and I guess the movies too...

Broken Heart So Close To Valentine's Day

The perfect statement piece for Valentine's Day or any other day of the year you wish to be flirty, sexy and romantic. It's been one year since the fashion industry lost one of its brightest stars: Alexander McQueen.

McQ, you will be missed...

Reality Bites

This whole week I've been traveling back to a time when Kurt was still alive, Winona was the it girl and wearing flannel was totally and completely acceptable.

The 90s. Grunge. Seattle. Doc Martens.

Awesomeness.

Six Hands Are Better Than Three

Over the life of this blog I hope to touch on many things in addition to my potentially unhealthy obsession with shoes. Today is going to be one of those days, a slight deviation from said obsession.

Accessories.

Which in my opinion are as important as what you wear on your body or feet. Accessories can make any outfit sing. Including a watch. I feel often times the watch is an overlooked accessory, most don't think about it, as long as it works, it's worn.

Well, to that I say for shame. A watch can say just as much about you as your wardrobe does. So make the effort to find that signature time piece. Something quirky. Something classic.

Today, I couldn't decide which watch to wear. So, I wore both. Six hands instead of three. You may find it unnecessary. I find it fabulous...
