Happiness, Is A New Shoe Everyday
A dear friend of mine gave me this 'shoe-a-day' calendar as a belated Christmas present. He knows me so well. A new shoe everyday, with a description of the time period the shoe was worn as well as designer info.
Because a girl needs a new shoe everyday...even if it's only on paper.
Get Your Kicks
Sneakers, that is!
Seven years ago, the second summer I lived at the beach, I bought the most amazing pair of Vans from the surf shop where I worked. Black, white and purple. I loved those shoes so much. Wore them practically every day. They looked cute with sun dresses. Jeans and a t-shirt. Shorts and a tank top. They were just perfect.
When I moved to New York City, I wore them just as much! But they were starting to wear out on the bottom. To the point where I had to start duct taping them to keep them together. A few times I found myself walking home from the train to my apartment in the rain, sloshing along with very wet socks.
Friday. I bought myself a new pair! They are the same style and almost the same color combination and I am certain they will treat me as well as my first pair did...
Viva la Vans!

And the Golden Globe goes to...
Last night at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards, fashion was out in FULL force!! There were funny moments from Ricky Gervais (and some, Holy shit I can't believe he just said that moments), some heartfelt acceptance speeches (Melissa Leo) and some amazing candid moments as the show was going out to commercial (Angelina fixing Brad's tie? Are you kidding me?! It was fucking amazing...or her reapplying her lip gloss?! I mean...it couldn't have been more perfect). Aside from the actual awards, I was equally as interested in what the stars were wearing! At the end of the day they are all just regular people, like you and I...EXCEPT on nights like this...
So here it is, my list of the good, the bad and the oh God I can't believe she wore that...
The Good...(in no particular order)
Emma Stone - Calvin Klein
Can I get an AMEN for a beautiful 22 year old girl dressing like she is a beautiful 22 year old girl?! She looked elegant, chic and happily age appropriate. Going back to her natural blonde was a perfect match for this simple peach dress.
Anne Hathaway - Armani Prive
Holy Glamazon. She looked glamourous, classic and sophisticated. Although not usually a fan of that color, I thought it looked amazing on her against her hair color.
Olivia Wilde - Marchesa
She looked like a princess! Literally took my breath away. And then. She lifts her dress to reveal her sky-high "Bridget's Back" Christian Louboutin (<3) gold booties. Holy Shit. Simply amazing and a perfect little surprise!
Julianna Margulies - Vintage YSL
If Audrey Hepburn were alive today, she would have wrestled Margulies for this dress. Elegant, simple and timeless.
Natalie Portman - Victor & Rolf
First of all, how cute is she with the bump?! Totally glowing. And with that bump, Portman admitted she can wear whatever she wants! And she's right. She could have worn a brown potato sack and she would have looked adorable. The dress was simple with a little flare (red sequined rose) that was interesting and eye catching which made what would have been an otherwise snooze-worthy dress very memorable.
The Bad...(in no particular order)
Milla Jovovich - Armani Prive
She is a beautiful woman and I thought this dress did nothing for her. The cut. The color. The off the shoulder-ness. Her hair looked amazing though...
Julie Bowen - Max Azria
For a moment I thought maybe one of her children got creative and sewed all those atrocious flowers at the bottom of the dress! Loved the color on her but I just did not care for the overall look of the dress.
Jennifer Lawrence - Louis Vuitton
I actually have only one problem with this dress, but it is this one problem that completely destroyed the dress in my eyes. The slit. It made the dress look more flamenco than awards ceremony. Change the slit, it would likely have made the Good list...
The Oh God I Can't Believe She Wore That...
Halle Berry - Nina Ricci
We get it! You're hot! But you were dressed like a street walker! Don't get me wrong...a very expensive street walker, but street walker nonetheless. If the bottom of the dress had been different, I would likely have a different opinion. The top was very sexy and flattering but when you made you're way down...a skirt...under a sheer longer skirt? Ugh. You're better than this HB...
Best Dressed Award
Eva Longoria - Zac Posen
Loved the hair. Loved the dress. Loved everything. She looked gorgeous! The dress fit her like it was made specifically for her body. Showed enough cleavage without being vulgar. Classy. Classic. Just awesome!!
Ballsiest Dress Award
January Jones - Versace
Although it wasn't my favorite, I give her major props for having the balls or confidence to wear this...in public. I'm sure there was a lot of double stick tape involved but it appeared everything stayed in place and she looked good! Red is definitely a fantastic color on her.
Looks Pretty Damn Good For Her Age Award
Jane Fonda - Georges Hobeik
The woman is 74 for cryin' out loud! I thought she looked unbelievable! I am 32 and would KILL to have her body. Whatever you're doing Jane...keep doing it (and share with the rest of us please...)
Kooky Award
Helena Bonham Carter - Vivienne Westwood
This woman has a style all her own and I have a lot of respect for that, she doesn't give a shit what anyone says, she wears what she likes. I do have to say that the dress was awesome. I LOVE Vivienne Westwood. I thought it suited HBC, I just wish she had worn 2 shoes of the same color...

Oh the weather outside is frightful...
We're expecting up to 18 inches of snow in the Big Apple over night and I am happy to say I am prepared! I have been lusting over these too cute winter boots by Sorel for a year. When I was prepared to order them last year the only size available was a 10. A freakin 10! This year...I was not about to let them slip through my fingers!
*sings* Let it snow let it snow let it snow...
